Dog that attacked police cruiser now in big trouble

This was all over the news last week, but if you didn’t see it, or if you want to see it again you need to check this out!  This dog latches onto the bumper of a police cruiser, and he won’t let go.   It was great fun to watch, but it could end badly for the dog.

It all started when Chattanooga, TN  police officer Clayton Holmes was on radar duty, filling out speeding reports, when his car began to rock. He got out of the  patrol car to find “Winston” , a 3-year old Boxer/Pitbull, attacking his tires. Holmes called for backup, but efforts to stop the dog with pepper spray and a Taser failed completely.

By the time Winston was subdued using a pole and collar, the dog had torn the bumper off one cruiser, bitten through two tires and left teeth marks on another one.

"Winston" awaits his fate at a Chattanooga shelter.

Winston’s owner, Nancy Emerling, said the dog has never shown aggression toward people – only motorized lawn equipment. A Chattanooga City Court judge is scheduled to review the case later this month.

Sadly, Winston’s owners are considering euthanizing the dog.  They are afraid that the next time he might latch on to a person and they say they don’t want to take a chance.  I can’t say that I blame them, it is actually very responsible, but I think I would just invest in a serious fence, but after watching what Winston did to those cars I am not sure what kind of fence they might need.  They may want to talk to their local zoo and find out what they use for the Grizzly bears!

Now I have a Collie that gives my vacuum hell and if I let her she would also try and eat the lawn mower, but Winston takes the cake, or in this case, the car!
