Have a dog-gone good time while raising money for a wonderful cause; saving pets caught in fires!

The event is called “Doggie Breath” and money raised will be used to equip fire trucks in Douglas County with oxygen masks.  Every year, thousands of pets die from smoke inhalation in house fires.  In many cases, a reusable pet oxygen mask could have prevented those deaths.  Now we can provide special masks that allow firefighters to give oxygen to pets rescued from fires. These masks come in three sizes to help all sizes and types of pets. In Douglas County, just a few fire trucks are equipped with one animal oxygen mask. Leadership Douglas County’s Class of 2010 would like to change this by providing a set of 3 masks (S-M-L) on local fire trucks. A set of three sizes of reusable pet oxygen masks costs $75. Twenty sets of these masks would satisfy the needs of the Douglas County Fire Agencies.

“Doggie Breath”  will be held Saturday, May 15, 11am to 3pm, it will be a day of food and fun at the Douglas County Fairgrounds (500 Fairgrounds Drive, Castle Rock, CO 80104) in the dog park.

Look for the fire truck! Enjoy a demonstration by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit, and participate in a “Pet/Owner Look-Alike” and the “Stupid Pet Tricks” contests and win awesome prizes!  Firefighters will be grilling up grub, for $5, get soda, chips, and a hot dog.

If there is inclement weather, the “rain date” is Saturday, May 22, 11am – 3pm.

This event is made possible by generous support from Douglas County Fire Agencies, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Flying Horse Catering, and Leadership Douglas County.

So go have some fun in the park with your dog… It may save his life one day.
