All aboard! This includes you Fido!

trainIt is just about that time of year when we all want to get outta town.  For those of us that don’t like to leave the pets behind, that can add a bit of a challenge to planning a trip.  In many cases you want to go on a tour, but they don’t allow dogs.  It is too hot to leave your buddy behind so you end up missing out on some great adventures.  Well I am going to start finding some enjoyable places here in Colorado that pets can join the family!  So I added a new category to the blog: “Destination Pooch!”  So if you have a favorite travel spot that includes the family pet, let me know!

First place is Leadville!  What is great about this place is there are hiking trails and camping spots in abundancdogtraine around the area and the local train lets you bring the dog!   Leadville Colorado & Southern Railroad encourages well behaved pets to ride with their friends on any of their trains. The train rides start Memorial Day Weekend and run through the first weekend in October. The conductors will talk to your pet prior to the ride, to make sure they will be comfortable..   My advice is to pack a little water and go on a long walk before the trip to make sure “business” is taken care of you know what I mean.    If your are looking for a little more luxury than a tent and a campfire don’t worry… It is also close to many Summit County resorts like Frisco and Breckenridge where there are lots of  stores, restaurants, hotels and even a fenced in dog park.
