How you can help keep local dogs out of the shelters!

Posted By elaine on June 22, 2010

From Now until July 10th, Pikes Peak Pet Pantry is trying to gather 10,000 pounds of dry dog and cat food.

They are also trying to get 500 pounds of bird, rabbit, ferret, horse, and reptile food.

If you don’t know, the Pikes Peak Pantry is a pretty cool organization.  They give pet food to help local folks feed and keep their pets at home. We all know that a pet can cost a lot of money and for people that suddenly find themselves in financial troubles, a hard decision on whether or not to keep a pet might have to be made.  That is where the Pet Pantry comes in.

The group will take any and all donations such as small bags of kibble, canned food, toys, beds, etc. and since they are a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, donations are tax deductible.

Of course they also take cash!  A five dollar donation will feed a cat for a month or a medium sized dog such as a Border Collie for 2-3 weeks.

Your help might be the difference that keeps pets from going hungry or ending up in a shelter.

Cash donations may be made securely online at or mailed to:
