Last December Samuel Walker pleaded guilty to Felony Aggravated Animal Cruelty.

In the Park County Courthouse in Fairplay this afternoon Walker was sentenced to the maximum 90 days in jail starting today.

He will also be on 2-years of supervised probation. During his probation he will not be allowed to acquire new animals or take part in any animal related businesses.  Walker was also fined more than 6-thousand dollars.

The judge also left open compensation claims for 3-months. This means shelters, rescues, and other victims can file a motion for restitution with the courts for consideration if they do it within the next 90 days. Nearly 30 other misdemeanor animal cruelty charges were dropped and part of the plea deal.

Walker’s wife Diane, pleaded to one count of Misdemeanor Animal Cruelty last October. The District Attorney dropped all other 27 charges as part of the bargain. She was sentenced to two years of probation.

The Florissant couple was arrested after animal control officers confiscated around 100 starving and neglected dogs from the Walker’s Pawsatrack Sled Dog Kennel in Hartsel in 2009. 8 dogs were found dead.

Since then most of the dogs have been placed in homes.

  1. THE SAME ABUSE HE DID TO THOSE POOR ANIMALS OUGHT TO BE DONE TO HIM. MAKE AN EXAMPLE OUT OF THESE LOSERS!!!

  2. Cindy says:

Sure wish we could leave him and his wife alone and starving. Just doesn’t seem like 90 days in jail is enough.
