I’m sorry but why did you post this? Its bad enough only negative things are posted by the media about Pit Bulls that you are going to keep the fire going. This happened because of a neglectful owner and I am tired of Pits being put in the spotlight as killers all the time. My pits have always been loving, gentle, sweet animals and I am scared of BSL because of bad owners and people in the media causing it to happen. It reminds me of when Hitler tried to remove and entire race of people. For crying out loud, it was wrong then and its wrong with NOW!

Thank you for posting this for everyone who is in denial about pit bulls. As long as there are people who try to make this breed a pet, sadly, there will be attacks to read about it.

And sadly its ignorant people like you that is the majority of the problem. Anyone who knows Pit Bulls knows what kind of pets they are and hopefully no one decides that whatever pet that you own should be listed on BSL. I am an older person and I have had Pit Bulls as pets all my life. I have never had a problem with the breed. The bad behavior has to do with irresponsible owners, Dog fighting, Animal Abuse and the lack of education of the breed. It makes me sick that its okay to kill off the breed rather than to do the things necessarily to stop the problem. Ban Dog Fighting, Make Animal Abuse a Felony, AND EDUCATION!

    Hi Sandy,
We report all kinds of dog stories, both good and bad. I have posted many good pitbull stories and if you search the site you will see that.

    Hi Laurie,
Not all pitbulls are vicious dogs. I know some amazing ones. The problem is that they are a very powerful breed that needs to be properly trained and socialized and sadly most people don’t do that with their dogs. I don’t support ban breeds, but I do support laws that would penalize people severly when their dogs attack people or other animals.

Sandy, I’m not ignorant — I’m highly educated and know and read quite a lot of data about pit bulls. (I do this about every thing I speak out about before I speak/write about it.) The fact is that UNLESS AND UNTIL we solve the problems with this breed, pit bull pets should not be living among us.

You can talk until you’re blue in the face about the good pits you have known, and look forward to the day that issues with breeding, handling, etc. have been addressed; but that won’t change the fact that they regularly turn on people, and other people’s pets.

Elaine, I’m not unenlightened — I know there are possibly pit bulls that are not vicious. The problem is, we don’t know which are and which aren’t, do we? In the last city I lived in, two pit bulls attacked the parents of their owners. The dogs were living at their house while their owners were out of town. They had done this for every vacation for years, and were known to love the people they attacked. No one could believe it. Everyone swore the pets were not vicious. That’s the problem, isn’t it? You don’t know until it’s too late.

Why would a sane person take that chance? I don’t want anyone taking that chance with MY life — or the life of my loved ones.
