CLEVELAND — A $5,000 reward has been offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction for whoever tied three dogs to railroad tracks in Ohio. Two dogs were killed by a train and one survived by crouching off the rails.

The reward was offered Wednesday by the group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.

The dog-tying happened last week in an industrial area overlooking downtown Cleveland. A railroad bridge monitor found the surviving dog Friday night and called police.

After a mandated waiting period to allow the owner to reclaim the dog, the survivor will be offered for adoption after Friday. The Cuyahoga (ky-uh-HOH’-guh) County animal shelter has been getting about three inquiries an hour about adopting the mixed breed dog.

that is just sick & wrong! dogs are supposed to be man’s best friend! dogs love people unconditionally, all the ask for in return is food, shelter & love. how could someone do this to Gods creatures?

Excuse me? “To allow the owner to claim the dog”?? If that is to have the murderer come forward to claim that dog…perfect. Then charge and convict that person (or persons) of cruelty, abuse and murder of these dogs. That person should be locked up forever. Psycho Sick. Better yet, let the ASPCA, Humane Society and every dog lover on earth, speak with that person one on one.

In fairness, it might not have been the owner of the dog that tied them up to the tracks.

If I saw someone doing that I’d probably end up with a life sentence for murder.

Wait… the a bridge monitor watched the dogs get tied up, but didn’t try to do anything? That’s what I’m getting from the caption on the picture. The instant I saw something like that happening, I would have called the police and tried to do something. Most likely the person that tied the dogs would have run off when he/she realized that someone had spotted them. I’m not saying they would run off, but it would be better than watching it all happen.

There is certainly a lot of cruelty in the world and while I don’t believe we can stop it, we can act with love.
The little survivor will continue to love…a shining example of how to override the evil.
