The results are in, but the pictures are not.

soco showWell the Southern Kennel Club Dog Show is over… It was a pretty fun weekend over all, but not my best from a competitive standpoint.  First the Greyhound I was supposed to show broke his toe and couldn’t show, then my Bernese Mountain Dog puppy had a hormonal panic attack and I decided to pull her out of the competition on Sunday.  Saturday she was fine and got a 3rd place, which isn’t great, and  Sunday she decided that everyone but me was evil and out to get her.  I decided not to risk frightening her so she got to sit it out on my feet outside of the ring.

I showed a little Border Collie for my sister and she did great.  She is just a puppy and finished her championship right out of the gate, so this weekend she got to show with the big dogs.  She won “Best Opposite” on Saturday.  This award is given to the best of the opposite sex to the dog that wins “Best of Breed”.  So if the male wins “Best of Breed”, they choose the best female for “Best Opposite.”  It is basically second place.  The next day we weren’t so lucky, but she trotted out there like a she was a Westminster Champ, so I am sure she will have her day in the winners circle.

I also got to show a Black Russian Terrier puppy.  I stood in for a friend that had a dog in another ring, so it was a one time gig, but a lot of fun.  This little wiggle worm made me work for our ribbon, but she came out with a second place.   It was fun because it was the first time I really got to meet one of these dogs up close and in person.   They are intimidating to look at but maybe one of sweetest dogs you could ever find.

Now I didn’t have time today to put on the pictures, but they are coming, I promise.   I will post them throughout the week.  So if you saw me snapping shots of your dog, check back.
