Man gets maximum jail sentence for dog abuse

The man accused in the abuse of nearly 100 sled dogs in Park County back in 2009 was sentenced in court today, and received the maximum jail sentence.
Last December Samuel Walker pleaded guilty to Felony Aggravated Animal Cruelty.

 A popular face at the Mill Dog Rescue kennel has died.
Chance was a little rescued dog that shouldn’t have lived, but somehow he managed to pull through.  After that he became the unofficial mascot of the organizations.  Chance died today after a battle with cancer.

Woman in massive dog cruelty case only gets probation

A Florissant woman who was charged will 28 counts of animal cruelty, including felonies, made a plea agreement in court that some might think is, well, pretty easy.
Diane Walker will only serve two years probation on one count of misdemeanor animal cruelty.  The District Attorney dropped all other 27 charges as part of the bargain.

43 dead dogs found in freezer

ELKMONT, Ala. (AP)
Nannie Johnson is charged with more than 40 counts of cruelty to animals after police say 43 dogs were found dead in her freezer.
Limestone County authorities said the 63-year-old woman, of Elkmont, Ala., is accused of operating a puppy mill and keeping the dead dogs on ice.
