A new program in Northern Colorado hopes to help keep Pit Bulls out of the shelter.
The Humane Society of Weld County north of Denver received a $19,385 grant from PetSmart Charities to spay/neuter 500 Pit Bulls and Pit Bull mixes in Weld County

Last year over 38,000 of the 158,000 dogs and cats that entered Colorado shelters were euthanized. Although this is a large number of euthanasias, it reflects a decrease of 2,000 from 2007 – thanks in large part to Pet Overpopulation Fund donors!
